Mr. Hashmi received his B.Sc. from the University of British Columbia before completing his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Saskatchewan, including part of his legal studies at Oxford University in England.

With extensive experience across litigation, corporate law, real estate, wills and estates, personal injury and other areas of practice, Mr. Hashmi has spent his career building Hashmi Law around strong professional standards, trusted relationships and practical legal service.

Today, his role is increasingly focused on the strategic direction of the firm. He provides leadership on Hashmi Law's vision, values, growth priorities and professional standards, while empowering the firm's lawyers, paralegals and business leadership team to manage day-to-day client service and operations.

Mr. Hashmi continues to provide senior legal oversight where appropriate and plays an important role in developing relationships with key clients, referral partners and community leaders. His focus is on ensuring Hashmi Law continues to grow responsibly while maintaining the reputation, service standards and personal approach that clients have come to expect.

He is very active in the community, serving on the board of directors for the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association as well as the Surrey Bar Association. He is fluent in French, Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi, and also speaks Spanish.

Outside of work, he enjoys running and cycling.

He has also achieved excellent outcomes for personal injury clients and takes pride in helping people understand their options so they can make decisions that serve their best interests.

Rod has particular expertise in employment law. He enjoys helping employers prevent costly legal disputes by ensuring they have the right agreements, policies and practices in place. When disputes do arise, he has helped employers navigate employee conflicts, contract negotiations, severance matters and litigated settlements.

Rod also represents employees dealing with wrongful or constructive dismissal, severance negotiations and workplace policy disputes.

Because he has extensive experience representing both employers and employees, Rod understands the issues from both sides. That perspective allows him to identify practical solutions, reduce unnecessary conflict and work toward outcomes that are fair, efficient and commercially sensible.

Outside of work, he enjoys staying active through hiking and running, exploring the outdoors whenever he can. He also enjoys playing guitar, which gives him a creative outlet and a chance to unwind.
